India veteran Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian spouse Denis Shapovalov surprised 6th seeds Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in a hard-fought three-setter to advance to the quarterfinals of the US Open males’s doubles tournament.
The unseeded Indo-Canadian pair on Saturday overcame a suite deficit to overcome the German duo 4-6 6-Four 6-Three in a second-round stumble upon that lasted one hour and 47 mins. Bopanna and Shapovalov will tackle Dutch-Romanian aggregate of Jeal-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau within the quarterfinals.
